"The only thing that you absolutely have to know is the location of the library." -Albert Einstein

Libraries are not only "the Archive Hubs" that preserve historical documents and ensure their availability for future generations, but also, they are "the Learning Spaces" which provide a quiet and favourable environment for studying, reading, and collaborative learning activities. Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute (DYPBBI) is making significant strides in providing comprehensive library services to its students and faculty.

The Institute’s library is meticulously curated and efficiently managed to serve as a valuable repository of knowledge, catering to information-related needs. The library at DYPBBI was established in the year 2014. It is well-equipped with textbooks, reference books, general books, magazines, Journals, CD ROM, Video lectures, online resources, and other valuable reading material.

The data of the library are digitalized based on DPU-ERP library software. The library transactions have been computerized (barcoding). The implementation of ERP-integrated library management software and the availability of the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) make it easier for users to access resources from any location.

The emphasis on both print and digital resources, including books, journals, and other reading materials, reflects a commitment to catering to the diverse needs of students and faculty at DYPBBI. In addition, the subscription to various online databases including EBSCO, Scopus, Web of Science greatly enriches the research capabilities of the institution.

Establishing cooperative arrangements with other libraries and consortia further enhances the breadth and depth of resources available to the users. A full-time librarian assists users in locating relevant materials, answering queries, and navigating research databases.

DYPBBI library is also proactive in organizing events & workshops to foster research knowledge & skills. Such sessions motivate students to increase reading habits and provide them co-curricular information on how to write research papers, use electronic resources & search strategies from various databases.

Considering digital resources, all e-Journals, e-books, Project Reports, SWAYAM & NPTEL videos & lectures can be accessed by students and faculty after appropriate Log-in. The Institutional repository is the best platform & an innovative channel of scholarly communication. Research work of college faculties is made available to all students.

Access to the National Digital Library is also made available for students, where they can access all reading material in various formats like Books, Articles, thesis manuscripts, technical reports, monographs, albums, law judgments, audio lectures, video lectures. In order to comply with scientific ethics and integrity, plagiarism checker software is available to students and staff at DYPBBI library to ensure the authenticity and security of the content created by students and faculty.

Overall, these initiatives can proactively lead us towards supporting teaching, learning, scholarship, and research activities within the Institute.
