Moreover, the partnership will bolster clinical research efforts, particularly in challenging areas within medical sciences. This unique industry-academia alliance promises a comprehensive learning experience for students and further enriches the expertise of faculty members and industry professionals.

  Objectives: Identification of drug candidates that are effective against coronavirus SARS-CoV-2- by employing a hackathon for in-silico drug discovery, followed up by chemical synthesis and biological testing.
  Summary: Drug Discovery Hackathon 2020 (DDH2020) is a joint initiative of AICTE, CSIR, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and supported by Office of Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India, NIC and MyGov. Apex committee of DDH comprises of Prof. Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India; Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE; Dr. Shekhar Mande, Director General, CSIR and Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of Education Innovation Cell. Only 10 entries were selected at a national level amongst thousands of entries.

Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute has been awarded with "National Excellence Award 2020" organized by National Educational Excellence Awards And Conference 2020 and recognized as "Top Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute of the Year 2020 under the category - Quality Education and Innovative Teaching Approach". The Award was accepted by Dr. P. D. Patil, the Honorable Chancellor DPU, Dr. Smita Jadhav, Trustee, DPU and Professor J. K. Pal, Director, Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute. The Institute is also selected to receive another award under the category “50 Most Promising Educational Institutes of India 2020”'
