  Objectives: Identification of drug candidates that are effective against coronavirus SARS-CoV-2- by employing a hackathon for in-silico drug discovery, followed up by chemical synthesis and biological testing.
  Summary: Drug Discovery Hackathon 2020 (DDH2020) is a joint initiative of AICTE, CSIR, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and supported by Office of Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India, NIC and MyGov. Apex committee of DDH comprises of Prof. Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India; Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE; Dr. Shekhar Mande, Director General, CSIR and Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of Education Innovation Cell. Only 10 entries were selected at a national level amongst thousands of entries.

The Award was accepted by Dr. P. D. Patil, the Honorable Chancellor DPU, Dr. Smita Jadhav, Trustee, DPU and Professor J. K. Pal, Director, Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute. The Institute is also selected to receive another award under the category “50 Most Promising Educational Institutes of India 2020”'
